One Health Institute of Africa (INOHA) at the One Health International Conference, Kinshasa
05/28/2024 - 05/30/2024
Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
This conference was a first of its kind in the DRC. A planning meeting for it was held December 8, 2023. INOHA is a center of excellence for One Health training and research at the University of Kinshasa. Its creation began in 2005 to seek innovative solutions for public health issues through a multidisciplinary One Health approach. In 2010 the initiative became institutionalized with creation of the Research and Training Unit on Ecology and Control of Infectious Diseases (URF-ECMI) at U Kinshasa Faculty of Medicine’s Microbiology department. In 2021, with creation of a Master in Ecology of Infectious Diseases, Natural Hazards and Risk Management, the URF-ECMI became a full-fledged service within the Department of Basic Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine before evolving in 2023 to become INOHA.
