One Health Commission and Partners Launch Informational One Health in the U.S. Webinar Series

Hosted by the One Health Commission, in partnership with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, The Wilson Center, and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, this 3-part webinar series will answer the questions: What do I need to know about One Health? Why do I need to know it? Why is it so important? What can I do about it? The first webinar, ‘One Health 101: What is All the Fuss?’, featured an overview of the One Health framework, systems and policies, and highlighted best practices in preventing the next pandemic.

Call for One Health Day 2020 Celebrations                                                                                                                            This year One Health Day celebrations are especially poignant. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, One Health is being recognized and embraced as needed now more that ever. On the zoonotic diseases front the public is beginning to understand that we are now living what the global One Health Community has been teaching and warning about for over 15 years. It is more urgent now than ever to make One Health thinking and acting the default way of doing business at all levels of academia, research, government and policy.

Fourth Annual Global 'One Health Day' November 3, 2019:  Are you Planning Your Event?                                            Since 2016, three leading international One Health groups, the One Health Commission, the One Health Initiative Autonomous pro bono Team, and the One Health Platform Foundation, have partnered in leading global “One Health Day. Officially celebrated on November 3, individuals and groups from around the world, from academic to corporate to non-profit, students to established professionals, take the opportunity to implement One Health projects and special events under the auspices of “One Health Day.”

Third Annual One Health Day Introduces Exciting Updates: 2018 Edition Launched Today by Three International One Health Groups 
One Health Day raises awareness about the One Health approach to complex health problems involving people, animals and the environment. One Health Day has grown into a sustainable platform for One Health supporters around the world to educate about One Health and One Health issues in their locals. Today, the three global partners launch promotions of the 2018 One Health Day campaign, calling upon individuals and groups from around the world to implement One Health educational projects and awareness events under its auspices.

Student Teams from Makerere and Iowa State win the 2017 One Health Day Student Event Competition   
Today, the One Health Day Coordinating Team enthusiastically announces the winners of the 2017 One Health Day Student Events Competition. Competing groups had to meet a set of qualifying criteria and were required to submit a post-event summary. The One Health Day organizers were impressed with the work of the Student Event teams, and, based on an objective assessment, two teams are each being awarded a $2,000 prize. The winning 2017 One Health Day Student Event Competition teams are: the Makerere University One Health Student Innovation Club, which organized a Rabies Vaccination and Awareness Campaign in Uganda, and Iowa One Health for organizing the second Iowa One Health Conference.

The One Health Commission’s Call to Action for Social Scientists - Involvement of Social Science disciplines is essential to implement the One Health paradigm shift.
The One Health Commission acknowledges that the Social sciences* are essential to understanding and addressing the root causes of disease and determinants of community health. Social science disciplines are critical to making One Health the default way of doing business at all levels of research, academia, policy, and government. Therefore, a One Health Social Sciences (OH-SS) Working Group has been created that will provide a platform for innovation and integration of all social science disciplines to strengthen the One Health movement. Today this team invites social science researchers and practitioners to share their expertise in utilization of the One Health approach. Read full release.

Second Annual "One Health Day" Planned by Three International One Health Groups 3 November 2017
The first edition of the global One Health Day, held on 3 November 2016, generated over 150 events in over 35 countries engaging approximately 17,000 participants. Officially launched in April 2016 by three leading international One Health groups, the One Health Commission, the One Health Initiative Autonomous pro bono Team, and the One Health Platform Foundation, this initiative has grown into an annual, sustainable platform for One Health supporters around the world. One Health Day Calls for Trans-disciplinary Collaborations to Improve Global Health
An evening of academic talks and public discussion in Finland, a One Health poster competition in the US, a One Health University Students Club meeting in Rwanda, an international symposium on food safety in Chile, and a One Health Awareness Week in Afghanistan... these are but five examples from over 100 global events in 35 countries across six continents being organized  at the occasion of the first annual One Health Day on 3 November 2016. Read full release
