1st South Africa Medical Association (SAMA) Meeting on Multi-Professional Collaboration on One Health in South Africa

Pretoria, S.A.. Delegates from seven key S. Africa stakeholder organizations met to discuss the value of taking a One Health approach in the country, to brainstorm and begin strategizing what they could do, separately and jointly, to actualize its collaborative implementation there. The organizations represented were SAMA, S Africa Veterinary Association, Health Professions Council of S. Africa, National Institute for Communicable Diseases, U Pretoria, Public Health Association of S Africa, S Africa Nursing Council and the One Health Commission. Among the key discussion outcomes were consensus to anchor One Health in S. Africa in a theme of ‘Prevention’ and to strengthen an existing One Health Forum (network) in S. Africa.
