15 years embracing the One Health initiative at the Bronson Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, Florida: Personal experiences. (3:00-6:30 p.m.)   Invited talk in the ‘Veterinary Pathology’ Session at the 3rd Annual Congress of Mexican Pathologists taking place April 28-May 2, 2017 in Mérida, Yucatan, México.  

We need more occasions such as this meeting of both human and veterinary pathologists. Gizela Maldonado DVM, MS, CMPV, CPM, Diagnostic Veterinarian Manager and Pathology Section Head, Division of Animal Industry, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, presents (in Spanish) on these topics: 

  • Why One world-one health? When the contact has happened.
  • Close encounter of the second kind: occupational and recreational zoonoses, and invasion of the habitat.
  • Veterinary forensic sciences and Human forensics; learning from each other.
  • Joining our efforts to embrace One Health.
