International Veterinary Medicine Study Abroad Course in Uganda

Program Description This course focuses on the study of tropical veterinary medicine (TVM) in Uganda including; International Animal Production, Animal Health, Disease Surveillance, Public Health Systems and Food Safety. Students will have the opportunity to be exposed to TVM in a country, Uganda, with mostly rural veterinary practices (RVP). These RVPs are similar in several ways to RVP in many states in the US, including Mississippi. Students participating in this program will also learn about One Health perspectives of the TVM while being immersed in another culture.

Requirements The course is open to all professional and graduate students in the College of Veterinary Medicine. Admission to College of Veterinary Medicine preferred. Students must attend preparatory seminars during the spring 2015 semester.
