OHC Executive Director Stroud and reggae musician ‘Bay C’ open the One Health / One Global Environment Conference in Montego Bay, Jamaica

Hosted by the International Federation for Environmental Health (IFEH) and the Jamaica Association of Public Health Inspectors (JAPHI), the One Health / One Global Environment Conference used discussions and presentations about new surveillance techniques, diagnostics, disease prevention strategies, policies, academic curriculum design, and much more to foster networking and One Health capacity building within the environmental health community. The conference was kicked off on Monday evening, Oct 23rd with a performance by Bay C, One Health musical ambassador, reggae composer and singer, who shared his Listenmi News One Health feature. Bay – C is One Health-Caribbean’s Celebrity Patron, ideator of ListenMi News and is a Caribbean pioneer in ‘edu-tainment.’

Following Bay C, Dr. Cheryl Stroud opened the conference with a Keynote presentation, “Advancing the One Health Concept through collaborations that ‘Connect, Create, Educate, and Educate’”. Other conference Keynote presenters were Dr. David Dyjack, CEO and Executive Director of the U.S. National Environmental Health Association (Tues, 24th) and Dr. Armando Hoet, Director of the Veterinary Public Health Program at Ohio State University (Wed, 25th).  View the conference program.
