East Bay family cat euthanized after contracting rabies

The domestic cat .... was considered “indoor-only” but was allowed regular access to a balcony, according to health officials. On June 29, the family feline tested positive for rabies....Officials believe the cat may have been exposed to rabies by a bat while out on the balcony. No roosting bats were located by vector control workers responding to the case.

Wisconsin 6-year-old recovering after rabid bat attack

A 6-year-old girl from Shawano County is receiving rabies treatment after being bitten by a rabid bat in her yard Tuesday, June 23.

Dead bat at Fremont home tests positive for rabies

The Fremont Police Department and Alameda County Vector Control are alerting the community to the incident. According to officials, there is no known human or animal exposure to rabies from the bat.
